Enabling Preview Pane

Enabling Preview Pane in Explorer let you view files without opening a file but by just selecting a file. It is really handy while browsing though the files rather than opening one by one. You can use Alt + P to start Previewing your files.

Utilise tabs in Explorer

In Windows 11, Microsoft added tabs in Windows Explorer which really enhanced the user experience. User can open multiple tabs in a single Windows using Ctrl + T and Close using Ctrl + W. Tabs can be switched using Ctrl + Tab just like a web browser.

Use Explorer Shortcuts

In Windows, File Explorer uses many handy shortcuts to increase productivity. These simple shortcuts are very easy to remember and getting used to them. These are:

  • Alt + Arrow Keys: Go back and forth in folders.
  • Win + E: Open File Explorer
  • Ctrl + N: New Windows
  • F2: Function Button F2 will lets you rename the selected File.
  • Ctrl + F or F3: Will lets you search you files.
  • Ctrl + L or F4: will let you focus on Address bar.
  • Alt + Enter: Lets you open Properties of selected file.
  • Ctrl + Shift +N: for New Folder
  • Ctrl + Shift + Del: Delete selected file permanently.

Use Quick Access

Quick Access is a feature of Windows Explorer that lets you re locate the recently used files or folders. Imagine, you just closed an file and suddenly you mind that you made a mistake by closing that file. No worries, head to Quick Access, and the recently closed file should be on top of the list.
